  • What is crystal candy?

    • Crystal candy is an ancient Asian confectionary art made using simple ingredients such as sugar and agar to create beautiful gem-like pieces that have a crystalized outer shell and soft firm jelly center. 

  • Is it the same as rock candy?

    • No, crystal candy has unique textural experience. When you bite into crystal candy you will bite through a crunchy outer shell and experience a softer firm jelly center. 

     

  • What will it taste like?

    • Sparkles Crystal Candies are different than many Asian crystal candies such as Kohakutou. Our flavors are more pronounced and noticeable however they differ drastically from American candies in that they do not have as strong flavor profiles.

  • How is crystal candy made?

    • Sparkles crystal candies are made using simple ingredients. Sugar, agar, and water are mixed to form a syrup that is poured into molds or cut into fun shapes that will air dry or crystalize over the course of about 2 weeks. 

  • How do I store my crystal candies?

    • Crystal candy loves to be in a nice dry environment away from humidity and moisture. It is perfectly fine to leave your crystals out on a plate or bowl. The longer they are exposed to air the crunchier they will become. Show them off! They are handmade beautifully crafted pieces of edible art.

  • Can I store crystal candy in the refrigerator?

    • It is best to store your crystal candies in a dry environment outside of refrigeration.

  •  How long does crystal candy last?

    • Sparkles Crystal Candies are best consumed within 6 months of purchase. 

  • Are Sparkles Crystal Candy all vegan?

    • The majority of our candies are vegan. Individualized allergy and dietary information can be found listed under each individual product description. Detailed ingredients lists can also be identified on each piece of individually priced candy.

  • Are Sparkles Crystal Candies Gluten-Free and Dairy-free?

    • Sparkles Crystal Candies are Gluten-free and processed in a facility that does not process gluten products. The majority of our candies are also dairy-free. Those candies that are not dairy-free will be listed as containing dairy.

  • Does Sparkles Crystal Candies have artificial dye in them?

    • All of our candies are made using natural colorants. The majority of the colors come from the ingredients we use such as fruit powders, vegetable powders, fruit purees ect.

  • Are there any preservatives in Sparkles Crystal Candies?

    • We do not use preservatives in our candies.

  • Are the Sparkles on the candies edible?

    • Yes, the Sparkles on the crystal candies are edible. We only use FDA approved and FDA compliant food grade luster duster/glitter on our candies and they are made using mica based pearlescent pigments.

  • Can children eat crystal candy?

    • Yes and we believe its a healthier alternative than store bought candies. Although, crystal candy can come with sharp edges. Because of this we recommend not to give to children under 7.

  • My crystal candy arrived "melted"

    • Crystal candies are different than gummy candies in that they will "sweat" and may arrive with moisture on them. This is totally normal. Please take them out of the packaging and leave them to air dry overnight. The crystal candies will become crunchy on the outside and maintain a soft jelly center again.
